Art Therapy
Don't Let Your Thoughts Control Your Life
Sometimes it’s hard to find the right words to explain how we feel. That’s where art therapy comes in. Instead of only talking, you get to create—using paint, drawing, clay, or collage—to show what’s going on inside.
WHAT WE OFFER FOR YOU
Why Art Therapy Is Used
Art therapy helps when words aren’t enough.
It’s often used with people who have gone through trauma, struggle with anxiety or depression, or feel stuck or overwhelmed.
This therapy is helpful for:
Children, teens, and adults who find it hard to talk about feelings
People healing from grief, loss, or trauma
Individuals coping with anxiety or depression
Those working through identity, self-worth, or emotional pain
Anyone seeking a creative way to feel more grounded
The Goal of Art Therapy
The goal of art therapy is to help you understand your feelings in a new way. Your therapist won’t judge your artwork—they’ll gently guide you to explore what your art may be telling you. The process helps unlock emotions, reduce stress, and build self-awareness.
How Art Therapy Can Help You Feel Stronger
Art therapy helps you feel seen, safe, and understood—without pressure to explain everything right away. You might discover things you didn’t even realize were bothering you.
At Cornerstone Wellness Center, we believe healing can happen in color, texture, and movement. If you’re ready to explore your feelings in a creative and gentle way, art therapy could be the path forward.
A Simple Story:
Meet Marcus
Marcus is a 14-year-old boy who used to love to draw—until he lost his father in an accident. Since then, he’s been quiet, angry, and disconnected. His mom brought him to Cornerstone Wellness Center, unsure how to help him open up.
In art therapy, Marcus was invited to draw anything he wanted. At first, he didn’t say much. But little by little, his drawings began to tell a story—of sadness, fear, and eventually hope.
With the help of a trained art therapist, Marcus found a way to express what he couldn’t say out loud. His drawings became a bridge to healing—and to reconnecting with the people around him.
The story of “Marcus” shared above is a fictional example created for educational purposes. It does not represent a real client or actual session at Cornerstone Wellness Center. We are fully committed to maintaining your privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations. Any resemblance to real persons, living or deceased, is purely coincidental.
No! Art therapy is about expression, not talent. There’s no right or wrong way to make art in a session.
What kind of materials will we use?
Depending on your needs, you might use drawing tools, paint, clay, collage, or even simple crafts. Your therapist will provide what’s needed.
Not at all. Art therapy helps people of all ages—especially when words are hard to find.
That’s okay. You can share as much or as little as you want. Your therapist will go at your pace.
Art therapy adds a creative way to express and explore feelings. It helps you go deeper without always needing words.
Our clinic is a private mental health partnership, with a carefully selected team of Psychologists.
